STORM MORE OF A LIGHT BREEZE

So much for a ferocious Storm. Rather, the Sault's Northern Football Conference team is more of a light breeze. The question is no longer whether the Sault Storm will make the playoffs this NFC season.

So much for a ferocious Storm. Rather, the Sault's Northern Football Conference team is more of a light breeze. The question is no longer whether the Sault Storm will make the playoffs this NFC season. Rather, one has to wonder if the locals will win a game. A 38-6 loss at Mississauga last weekend dropped the Storm to 0-5 on the season. The Storm and the first-year Milton Marauders are the only winless clubs in the 10-team NFC. The Sault will go looking for its first win of the season this Saturday when it travels to Sudbury to play the 1-4 Spartans. The Storm has scored 60 points this season while giving up 128. Meanwhile, over at Oakville it's been more of the same for the eight-time defending NFC champion Longhorns. The 'Horns are 5-0 and have scored a whopping 265 points while yielding only 35. Last weekend, Oakville turned a showdown for first place with Markham into a rout, handing the Raiders a 27-0 setback. North Bay, meanwhile is now 4-1 after the Bulldogs used home field to edge the 3-2 Mega City Mad Dogs 16-14. Belleville is also 3-2. The Panthers are coming off a 40-0 whitewash of Milton. And the Oshawa Hawkeyes have a 2-3 mark following a 17-6 win over Sudbury. The Spartans are now 1-4.
